As provided by the statistics above, Tourism on Guam is the leading source of revenue for the island. Although I have never been to Guam, I can tell that it is truly a sight to see. Some of the most popular sites to visit while on the island include:
-Chamorro Village: Located next to Hagatna boat basin. Includes many gift shops of local artists and craftsmen. Every week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, if you visit the village you will find a night market that has become a "must see" attraction among both locals and tourists. The night market consists of live music, cultural dancing, and a large selection of island delicacies. The Chamorro village is known as the best place to find local cuisine (Guam Guide Book. N.p.: Guam Visitors Bureau, 2011. Print.).
-Cocos Island: Cocos island is a 100 acre island resort located five miles off the southern coastline of Guam. The island is mostly used for water activities including: snorkeling, jet skiing, windsurfing and simply just to enjoy a quiet white beach surrounded by clear waters (Guam Guide Book. N.p.: Guam Visitors Bureau, 2011. Print.).
-Apra Harbor Shipwrecks: Dive shops across the island offer several boat dives each week to Apra Harbor. These dives include a visit to the site of the German SMS Cormoran II and the Japanese Tokai Maru. This attraction is the only place in the world where two ships from two different countries and two different wars just beneath the surface of the water. "The German cruiser, scuttled by the ship's captain in 1917, lies at 130 feet underwater, just beneath the Tokai Maru, and 8,300-ton passenger-cargo ship that sunk amid fierce fighting in 1944 (Guam Guide Book. N.p.: Guam Visitors Bureau, 2011. Print.)."
-Two Lovers' Point: The breath-taking view of Two Lover's point makes it a must-see attraction if you visit the island. "According to ancient folklore, two ill-fated lovers who had been forbidden to marry tied their hair together, then leapt to their deaths from this 378-foot-high cliff (Guam Guide Book. N.p.: Guam Visitors Bureau, 2011. Print.)."
-Talofofo Falls: 30-foot waterfall that cascades into the Ugum River. The falls are mostly used as a hike destination, but the falls can also be easily accessed through the Talofofo Bay Beach Park. "A Replica of the caved occupied by Sergeant Shoichi Yokoi, a Japanese soldier who hid for 28 years in the jungle after U.S. forces liberated Guam in 1944, can be found on the site (Guam Guide Book. N.p.: Guam Visitors Bureau, 2011. Print.)."
